The HopeWalk is a suicide awareness and prevention movement. The movement was started by Pastor Joseph Fa’afiu in South Auckland.
This year’s King Country HopeWalk took place in March and Hamilton’s HopeWalk is going to be on Saturday, 29 April.
The walk will be at the Hamilton Lake Domain walking track at Innes Common, 12 noon.
Everyone is encouraged to wear yellow for the HopeWalks.
A ‘Let’s Talk Wellbeing’ health hub will be at the Hamilton HopeWalk that will have a group of Waikato DHB clinical staff available for any member of the public to talk to about any concerns or ask questions about themselves or a loved one. Printed wellness and wellbeing resources will also be available.
If anyone you know is experiencing distress, please encourage that person to talk to his/her general practitioner, kaumatua, kuia or a minister.
In an emergency, if you feel someone is at risk of harm to themselves or others, please call 111 and ask for Police
