A new development will enable the region’s engineering scientists and professionals to enter this year’s Kudos Science Excellence Awards.
Innovative engineering company Simcro joins stalwart Kudos partners, University of Waikato, Hamilton City Council, WINTEC, Waikato Regional Council, Hill Laboratories, King St Advertising and Waikato DHB in supporting science discovery and innovation from Hamilton and the Waikato.
Run by the Kudos Science Trust, the Kudos awards raise the profile of local science achievement and provide opportunities for students to become more interested in science and science careers.
Now in their 11th year the Kudos awards remain New Zealand’s only regional science excellence awards acknowledging and supporting local scientific innovations impacting the Waikato, New Zealand and the world. With the help of their major partners they have awarded $300,000 in cash prizes to top scientists from around the region. These prizes have enabled local scientists to attend international conferences, purchase new equipment and fund further research. They have also presented many past winners with the valuable opportunity to travel overseas and increase their international profile, while also networking with world leading peers – putting the Waikato on the world stage.
Chair of the Trust, Professor Ross Lawrenson explains: “The Kudos awards recognize the science based achievements of the Waikato community. Every year the range and quality of science we recognise seems to be increasing. We are extremely grateful to our sponsors for their continuing support for the awards,” he says.
The 2017 Kudos award categories reflect the outstanding contribution the region’s scientists are making across all science disciplines, striving for excellence as innovators, entrepreneurs, educators and engineers.
