The story in the Waikato Times this morning reporting that patients can no longer provide complaints on paper is incorrect. The Datix system that is the subject of the article is an internal incident and complaint handling system for staff, not for patients.
All patients can still send feedback to the hospital by phone, letter, email etc as usual and these will be input into the system. Datix will make recording adverse events much easier and it will be quicker to pick up trends and areas where we need to improve.
