Growing Up in New Zealand

The Growing Up in New Zealand ‘Now we are two: Describing our first 1000 days’ report was released in July 2014.

Growing Up in New Zealand is the largest longitudinal study in New Zealand that is being undertaken by the University of Auckland that provides an up-to-date, population relevant picture of what it is like to be a child growing up in New Zealand, in the 21st Century.

The study releases periodic reports from its interviews with families, and our very own Waikato Clinical School’s Dr Polly Atatoa-Carr has been instrumental in carrying out that research.

Approximately 7000 children and their families are taking part in the study that aims to provide a complete picture of the pathways that lead to successful and equitable child development, therefore improving outcomes for all children – now and into the future.
